How many videos for golf instruction do you have? Be honest! If you're like me...close to a dozen...maybe two dozen. Why do we keep buying the latest/greatest video when it comes out? Why not focus on our specific swing faults until they are GONE!
Okay...if you're still going to buy videos to improve your golf swing, you must make sure these videos have certain elements that are covered to get any benefit from them.
Instruction videos for golf should cover the fundamentals of the golf swing, including grip, stance, posture, etc...It should also cover a simple golf swing. Not the 8,10 or 16 step golf swing! The more complicated a video makes the swing, the worse your swing will get. Don't fall into that trap! Be aware of this right away and don't do it!
A good instruction video should come with simple drills for basic swing faults. 1-2 simple drills for slicing, hooking, topping and chunking the ball. These are the 4 main swing flaws of most amateur golfers. Fix these and you'll shave a ton of strokes off your score.
These drills should be easy for you to understand, and almost instantaneous to implement. You shouldn't have to go through some heavy learning process just to do a drill. That's the last thing you need to add to your golf swing improvement program!
Have a gameplan from your golf instruction video. Really decide want you want to focus on from the video and stick with it. Maybe it's one swing fault, or a fundamental you're not doing right. Stick to that one issue until you get it right! Then and only then move on to the next swing issue you may have.
As you can see, I totally believe in
golf instruction videos, but there are some that are a total waste of money and your valuable time.
